Do I "Smell Fall" ?

When you want it to rain you wash your car right?
Well, I thought that after numerous days of 112 degrees... I would bake something "pumkin~ish" to help usher in a little bit of fall.
The forecast is still HOT but next week is hopeful!
So, come on... Let's get cookin'!
Bake & share some of your favorite fall recipes and see what happens ;)
Here's my pumpkin bread/muffin recipe:

Pumpkin Bread

1 C. dark brown sugar
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1 C. canned pumpkin
1/2 C. vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 C. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4  C. water
1 C. Craisins
Beat sugars eggs and oil together then mix dry ingredients in . Add water and Craisins and mix until well blended. Pour into greased cupcake tin.

Bake in 350 degree oven about 18 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Cool
Frost with following:

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 8oz. pkg cream cheese
1/2 C. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
1 & 1/2 C. of  powdered sugar or until desired thickness.
Let me know if you make these & if you like them ;)

More Notebooks

So here are my other notebooks that I did. They were easy peasy. Just a little time consuming and not much room for error once you start cutting.9You can see the bit of green on the bottom of this one.  I'm going to touch it up with a little grey acrylic paint ;)
Use Royal Coat Decoupage, craft paper & your favorite picture to use as the cover.
This is from a picture of me and my hubby that Heather took ;)

Thanks to Graphics Fairy and Domestic Anarchy for their inspiration on this one

What to Do, What to Do...

Look what I found at Savers!! Guess how much? It was priced at $17.99 with another 20% off. Ok, I know it looks bad but I know it has potential.  I can't decide what to do with it though.  I will definitely be taking off all of the upholstery, but I'm no upholsterer. That part scares me.  Should I paint or re-stain?
I would love to hear your ideas! What would you do?

Melissa's Party Prep

OK!! I can finally post my projects for Melissa's party! I wanted it all to be a surprise so I couldn't post anything cause she's a faithful follower ;)
She asked for a "Retro Glamour Girl Beach Party".
This was not going to be at my house so it was a little more of a challenge doing it at someone elses home and having only been there once, even more chancy.
Well...needless to say, I felt this was going to be fun but maybe not cheap.  I unleashed my "Chipper Chicken" side of me and got started.
I went online and bought posters from Allposters.com, to Loew's and bought lumber cut to size, spray paint in various colors, rope, ring screws, and to of all places... bn.com (Barnes & Noble) for the decoupage. It's called Royal Coat Decoupage. I was totally disappointed in every other product. I'm not naming names ;)
Here are the posters I made for outside by the pool:

I'll be posting more on the creations from the party soon.
Thanks for looking!

Yummy Easy Granola

1/2 c. peach or pineapple preserves
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. vegetable shortening (I used Crisco's Butter Flavored Sticks)
Remove from heat and stir in:
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cinnamon
dash of salt

Add:
4 c. oatmeal (quick or old fashioned)
1/2 c. craisins (optional)
  1/2 c. coconut
   Stir oats into liquid mixture.
Pour onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Edges will brown quickly.
Cool for about 10-15 minutes and use a spatula to remove granola from pan.
Store in ziplock or something fancier like a cute Mason Jar

Note Book Goes From Boring to Adorable

I have found a darling new blog that I'm following AND already copying (isn't imitation the sincerest form of flatery?) one of her projects.
Domestic Anarchy
Thank you to The Graphics Fairy for the free clip art.

I used an inexpensive theme notebook, scrapbooking paper, a little paint to cover the edges on the front & decoupage.
I'm working on a few others too. I'll post them when I'm through.
Thanks for taking a look!
