Note To Self~Music helps

I have another song that goes deep into my mind, heart & soul that has helped me through some tough times.

When you feel like you don't see how you can go through another day of sadness whether from a loss or something disheartening in your life,  a tough time in your marriage, a broken relationship with a friend of someone you're very close to, these words are like a slap of reality of what you CAN do...CAUSE YOU CAN!

"Marchin On"

by: OneRepublic

For those days we felt like a mistake,

Those times when loves what you hate,
Somehow,
We keep marching on.

For those nights when I couldn't be there,
I've made it harder to know that you know,
That somehow,
We'll keep moving on.

There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things were not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on,
(We're marching on)
(We're marching on).

For all of the plans we've made,
There isn't a flag I'd wave,
Don't care if we bend,
I'd sink us to swim,
We're marching on,
(We're marching on)
(We're marching on).

For those doubts that swirl all around us,
For those lives that tear at the seams,
We know,
We're not what we've seen,

For this dance we'll move with each other.
There ain't no other step than one foot,
Right in front of the other.

There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things we're not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on,
(We're marching on)
(We're marching on).

For all of the plans we've made,
There isn't a flag I'd wave,
Don't care if we bend,
I'd sink us to swim,
We're marching on,
(We're marching on)
(We're marching on).

Right, right, right, right left right,
Right, right, right, right left right,
Right, right,
We're marching on.

We'll have the days we break,
And we'll have the scars to prove it,
We'll have the bonds that we save,
But we'll have the heart not to lose it.

For all of the times we've stopped,
For all of the things I'm not.

We put one foot in front of the other,
We move like we ain't got no other,
We go when we go,
We're marching on.

There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things we're not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on,
(We're marching on)
(We're marching on).

Right, right, right, right left right,
Right, right, right, left, right,
Right, right,
We're marching on.

Right, right, right, right left right,
Right, right, right, left, right,
Right, right,
We're marching on.

If this means anything to you, download this song or find it somehow & hear what I mean.

Sewing With Kyle

Kyle has such a way with me! I had bought some fun fabric to make an apron while spending time at the cabin.  You know, some girlie down time (ha ha).  Sewing and "down time" don't go hand in hand with  me.
After much sewing and ripping out and sewing.... I finished my apron.
This picture was taken by Kyle.

So! There is left over fabric.
Kyle is very good at manipulating me.
"Bobbie! Let's make a skirt for me!
So...sucker that I am,

How can I say no to that?
We made a memory ;)

My Honey's B~Day & His Chocolate & Chocolate Cake!

I love celebrating my husband.  He is a beautiful man inside and out.
He doesn't like to "put me out" so his birthday requests are simple but I try to make them as special as possible.
Greg's favorite cake is "chocolate on chocolate" (recipe below) & homemade ice cream.  We're more sentimental than sensational.
Dinner was as easy as it gets...Peter Piper Pizza! We refuse to grow up!

He started a new tradition a few years ago where he buys the grandkids presents for his birthday, ummm.... ya. Grandparents these days! They are still in shock over that one!  It really makes for a special cake & ice cream time.  You're not sure who's having more fun ;)
This year I made a "Special Memories Jar" for him.  Everyone wrote out a special memory or two and placed them in the jar to read.  The plan is to keep it out and every time we have a special moment or memory we want to remember, write it down on anything and place it in the jar. We'll pick a special day out of the year, probably his birthday next year, and read them together.

Chocolate on Chocolate Cake

Cook any brand of some chocolaty goodness but always use the knife method of checking for doneness, never go by the time they tell you.  It's always too long.
(You thought I was going to give you some fabulous homemade recipe didn't you?)
But now I'll share my favorite chocolate frosting in the whole world with you....

Chocolate Frosting

12 oz. cream cheese
3/4 c. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
4 TBS. (give or take) cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla  (I used imitation for a stronger flavor)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground coffee

Whip this all up and slather it on your cake!

Happy birthday my Honey.  I love you with all my heart!

Thanks for visting!

God Bless The USA!

Our family celebrated "The 4th" at home this year.  We were missing Heather, Mike and the kids but we all had a good time.We had a beautiful rainy afternoon that kept the temps down.
Melissa made some fun drinks & treats

We had a fun photo opp that showed off my Pinterest completion.

By evening everything cleared up and we celebrated with our own fireworks, homemade ice-cream & popsicles!

Tommy & Melissa proved to be our "house pyromaniacs"!  It was fun watching them be creative with their "skills".

 Fireworks in the pool?

GT was not too impressed and you can see what he preferred to do.....

I am so thankful for this celebration.  It means we have such beautiful freedoms. I pray that our leaders will keep The Constitution from being polluted with compromise.
Most of all, I pray we keep godly leaders in position of power. Ones who have the humility and strength to be uncompromising.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God Bless The USA!

Flubber Fun!

"Aunt Minna" made "Flubber" with the kids last weekend.  She's such a fun auntie :)
It's super easy bu yes, it's messy! Once it's made it's a fun, fun, fun toy to have ready to break out to play with at the counter for some yuk and eewy gooey entertainment.
Here's her recipe:

Flubber

Mixture 1
1 1/2 C. Warm Water
2 C. Glue
Food Coloring

Mixture 2
3 tsp. Borax
1 C. Warm Water

Stir mixture 1 together in 1 bowl.  Then mixture 2 in another bowl. Make sure both are mixed well.
Pour mixture 1 into mixture 2.  Stir & work into a glob for 2 or 3 minutes.
Initially it feels wet but it dries to the final product.

Thanks Aunt Minna!  That was sooooo fun!
