Remember Home Ec? Yes? No?

We learned things like this...

I think those days are gone but I would like to try to keep some tradition alive. I hope to teach this table setting (I borrowed this diagram from http://www.dinner-party-menu-ideas.com/table-setting-diagram.html thank you ;) ) to my granddaughter.
It's funny, how many of us have all of those pieces to our dishes anyway? The bottom one is a little over the top and takes up a lot of space ;)   But if you ever want to set a "formal" table that's how it's done!
I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful Christmas Season!
Thanks for visiting ;)

Cloche Love

FYI:

cloche[klohsh, klawsh]

noun
1. a woman's close-fitting hat with a deep, bell-shaped crown and often a narrow, turned-down brim.
2.a bell-shaped glass cover placed over a plant to protect it from frost and to force its growth.
3. a bell-shaped metal or glass cover placed over a plate to keep food warm or fresh.
I have a new love for these old fashioned beauties. Thought I would share some of my findings. A few of them are in my possession and the rest are just ones that I covet.
Not mine

Not mine either (available at "The Secret Village")
Maybe someday...
(Umm, Santa?)

Picture is from Midwest Living
So, here's the thing, I want to use them in my Christmas decor. This one is inspiration. Pretty Little Birdy :)

This little cutie is mine and so are the following....
I'm hoping to use them all. I'll post pics when I'm done!
Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday Sis! (Belated)

To My Sweet Sister Gail, sometimes my "other mother".
She is a wonder to me. If you know her you will agree with me, she has unbelievable strength, faith and love.
I admire you Gail and thank The Lord for blessing me with a big sister like you.
One of my sweetest memories is how I would sit on the piano bench with you while you played & sang this song for me. It was my favorite.

Happy Birthday Gail!! I love you so!

I Did It!!

We started out all cute and "tatted up", strong and willing to fulfill the promise we made to help fight breast cancer.
There were times on the walk when I really felt my orphanaged state.  You never know when you're gonna get hit with that "I just need my mama" feeling.  It was often but I honestly felt her with me knowing she was proud of me ;)

"The B.O.O.P.S" at the finish.
We did it! Together!
I love you girls

I did it!! You never know how much strength you have till you're tested ;)
Thank you to all my family and friends who supported us through all these months of fundraising and training. I especially felt the love and blessed by all of you that came to the fundraisers, read my emails, asked me about my training, bought my cupcakes, tye-dyed tanks etc, etc.... You are the ones that really make a girl feel  strong.  It's the little things ;)
God bless you and keep YOU safe and strong.

Getting Ready!

We walk in 9 days!! Covering 60 miles in 3 days... Oh my!!!
I must say I am a most blessed mama to have had this year with my 2 girls. It really does take a year! We have trained and raised funds. We've had yard sales, photo sessions, baked goodies, movies on the lawn, consigned, BEGGED....
and now we're headed to San Diego!
We get to join other women who have been there, done that, share stories, cry,  hear others share and know that we have no idea what it's like to have breast cancer or lose someone from it. But, that's why we're going, because I don't want to know that pain!
So, here's to hoping I make it back alive and in one piece. My girls too!!
