My "Other Dad"
My husband's dad accepted me as one of his own from day one. His love I never doubted. I never came into his house without the greeting of "Joycie Poo! Oh, I'm so happy to see you!" I never left his prescence without hearing "Joycie Poo, I'm so lucky to have you!" Those words echo in my memory. He was as much a dad to me as my own dad was. And for as long too. He has been in my life for 37 years. My own dad died when I was 36. I will never hear them from his own lips again. He was taken to Heaven on New Years Eve. You would think I would be ok with that since he was 92 years old. Nope. He's one of those people you think will live forever. Strong, vibrant, knock me down and see how fast I get back up kinda guy. God had a different plan so now I have to "deal".
So....
Thank you Lord for giving my the best "Other Dad" a girl could ask for.
