My Dad

Today would have been my dad's birthday. I've been without him for 13 years now. Do you ever stop needing your dad?
These are a couple of pictures from one rare occasion in my childhood where I was with my parents all by myself, which was unheard of when you're the baby in a family of 6 kids~

I think this was somewhere in Texas. We were from the big city so cows were a rare site to a little city mouse.

Apron Kick

I've been on an apron kick. Mostly because they are an easy sew ;) My first one is a new beautiful gray linen napkin that I embellished with burlap ribbon and twine.
My next one is my favorite though, maybe you can tell me why?
Is it because I made it from an old vintage napkin that was part of a set of my mom's when I was a little girl? Or....because of the little girl that I made it for? The tie trim is from the fabric from her baby bedding and she picked the buttons for the decoration.

I'm still determined to be the "boss" of my sewing maching.
The results of Kyle's new dress is still up for
discussion. She sure loves it though.  We had a fun day "creating"...I sewed on her dress and she made a choker to go with it :)

We nicknamed our daughter "Bird" when she was little then when her little girl came along we nicknamed her "Birdie". My mom decided THEN to tell me that was her nickname her daddy gave her when she was a baby girl :)

Our "Movie On the Lawn" was a blast!  Thank you to those of you who came out and supported "The Boops"!
We raised a few bucks and had an all around fun night.

One Man's Junk

My Honey took my out on a cheap date the other night (my favorite kind).
Dinner at our favorite Mexican joint, $17 including tip, then a trip to Savers, oh boy!!
Look what we found....

1 large ceramic turkey for my Thanksgiving table at the cabin
3 pair of golf shorts for my awesome golferman
3 large distressed wooden candle holders
1 birch lamp, another treasure for the cabin.
Total: $36


You just have to love these people who donate these lovely things :)
